Gerbils

There are several types of gerbils available in the pet trade. The most common is the Mongolian Gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus). Once considered a relative of mice and rats, gerbils have been turned over to a family of their own, the Gerbillidae, which have more in common with hamsters than with rats and mice. Here at THF's, we are working with Mongolian Gerbils, as well as fat-tailed gerbils (Pachyuromys duprasii) also known as simply "duprasis". We will also be working with bushy-tailed jirds (Sekeetamys calurus). Please note, we cannot sell bushy-tailed jirds to OR or WA residents.
