Domestic rats are descended from the brown rat (Rattus norvegicus). Rats have not been separated into breeds yet, but there are several varieties, based on color, coat-type, patterns and ear-set. There are also tailless rats, playfully called "manx rats". Here at THF's, we are currently working with one pair of rats, a rex-type and an albino type. We are hoping to expand very soon. Rats are very good pets and wonderful for children. They can be taught to do tricks, come when their name is called, use a litterbox, and they can be your best friend.
